Magical South Korean island Jeju explored in the winter by foot and captured in images by the Latvian traveler, adventurer and photographer Kristine Sergejeva. 26 trails, 26 days, 422 km. Each day is described in one blog post presenting the selection of the best photos, highlights of the day and the thought of the day.
Day 5. Route 15 : Hallim - Gonae Olle. 19.1 km
Day 5. Route 15 : Hallim - Gonae Olle. 19.1 km
It became more and more difficult to push myself to wake up on time every morning and take a new route. But I knew that it was just a matter of starting - before I started to walk I usually had this mental block saying "Will it be tough? It will be tough!", but in the moment when I got out of the bus and reached the beginning of the trail, I already enjoyed it and all fears of possible difficulties were gone.
The same story was the day I took this trail. It was the longest trail I had to walk until then and I was wondering if I would reach an end of it when it still would be light. And also I was not sure that it would not be too hard for me. But it the moment I got out from the bus and saw an incredible authentic port covered with seagulls and colorfully dressed fisherwomen and fishermen doing their daily cores, my fears were gone.
At the end it turned out that I walked this trail quicker than the shortest one, which I took the day before and that this was the most fruitful day until now for photography. I was seeing possible pictures everywhere.. And as the result it was nightmare to select the nine best ones (so, I selected at least 18 from couple hundreds; and believe me, I wish I could post more),

The Thought of the Day
Instead of the spirituality, I have found the humanity. And it is time to re-read Friedrich Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra (you can read it here online).

Highlights
- Being able to observe fisherwomen and men doing their daily tasks when the big catch arrived;
- Beautiful clouds and always changing weather;
- Finally I passed dozens of gardens with orange trees (and tasted the best oranges on this earth!);
- On my way, I was invited to take part in the so-called fish-bread feast. It turned out, though, that the bread was called "fish-bread" not because of its consistency but because of its form; and it was filled with the red beans filling. Very tasty!!
